Well, here goes. My first blog!I've been in Brisbane for 5 years, and I've never been to Byron Bay. I know, it's a crime, but what can you do!!! And in my 5 years here, I've had numerous people say they'll take me, but for some odd reason, they all move over seas! What the?!?!
But two weeks ago, my very good friends Courtney and Kirsten took me. And it was fantastic! Our adventure to the beach began on Friday night (6th October). The girls came to pick me up in their trusty little beast, and we set off to coles Racecourse Rd. And let me tell you, if you're in the market for a touch (or a 'toy' that looks like a touch) Coles Racecourse Rd is the place to go. Here we stocked up on various forms of food, all of junk variety. Except for some weetbix and 3 Mars Bars.
From here we filled up the car, with some magic card that meant we didn't pay for fuel, Kirsten took a bath, and we made one last undisclosed stop on the way to Heussler Tce for some more food.
Saturday morning started bright and early with us kicking of at sparrows. Sparrows lunch that is. Actually we left pretty early, about 8.30 or so, and after an embarrassingly long stop at a service station we made our way to Byron, with only a short detour @ Humble Pie Co.
We arrived at Byron around 11, checked in to our rediculously cheap powered sight, set up camp and then hit the beach. It was so good to lay there and soak up the sun. God the water was fantastic. A little crisp, but was so clear and refreshing that I couldn't help diving under the first wave that came along.
After this we headed into the little town of Byron. I say little, coz I've always imagined it to have about 3 shops, a fast food place and the rest houses, like the little beach town I grew up near. Yeah right. We made a quick stop at Woolies, which pretty much meant we bought mixer for later, and then hit the bottle shop.
After a relatively quiet night, we hit the hay pretty early.Which is also when I woke up. Pretty early. Damn my wacky biological in built clock. I had been up, had a shower, eatten breakfast and had an very big failure of an attempt at sudoku, before I finally found a phone (mine was flat). The time ladies and gentlemen was 5.40. AM. Why???????
The girls got up soon after, had a spot of breakfast, and we soon packed up camp (after only a little sitting around), and decided to hit the beach.
It was not to be. After deciding that we didn't want to swim where the families were (due to kiddie pee factor) we went on a rather long, hot climb up to the lighthouse. What a view! It was definately worth climbing all that way.
We eventually made our way down, and being quiet hot and sweaty decided to give the beach another go. Unfortunately, the wind picked up alot, and after a short micro-dermabration we decided to head home.
After of course, some food. Well Kirsten had food. Courtney and I were saving ourselves for Humble Pie Co. And little scraps of Kirsten's lunch that were thrown our way.Humble Pie Co. What more can I say. It's worth the drive. And also, we just happened to be in the carpark at the same time as End of Fashion. We're like this (x) now. Yep, us and End of Fashion.
What a fantastic weekend. How ever can we top that?? How? Well, it's not quite the same, but last weekend Kirsten and I got to pick up a Hummer for a promotion at work. It was cool. So very cool. What a beast that car is. The power you feel just from sitting in it. Phwoar!
How can we ever have another weekend again, that will fill us with so much fun and excitement. Two words. Steph's Birthday. It's bound to be huge. Yeah!
